Krishna Anand is the President and Founder of the Student Volunteer Collective. The Student Volunteer Collective was born out of deep empathy, aiming to remove barriers to volunteering and empower high school students to lead and transform their communities. Krishna’s vision is to build a platform that serves as a bridge between individual aspiration and collective purpose – from affordable housing to hospice care. He believes that service is a profound dialogue between personal growth and societal needs.
Priscilla Wong is an engaged highschool student eager to make a difference in their community. Through the role of vice president of the SVC, Priscilla is determined to connect students and nonprofits together to create a stronger sense of unification. Through participating in various service opportunities in her community, she recognizes the importance of giving back and connecting to the community. With the Student Volunteer Collective, she hopes to create a bridge of new opportunities.
Jacob Podolski, vice president of the Student Volunteer Collective, is passionate about empowering students to positively impact communities through collective action. Jacob has worked with a number of leadership and volunteer networks and understands personally the difficulties associated with volunteering as a student. It is for this reason that he works with the Student Volunteer Collective to give back, creating a student-oriented platform to boost students and volunteer collectives alike to greater heights.
In an age of deepening social divides, SVC emerged from a simple insight. Our founder, Krishna Anand, observed that many of his peers genuinely wanted to serve their communities but were held back by practical obstacles—complicated logistics, safety concerns, and uncertainty about documenting their service for college applications.
Through his work with affordable housing initiatives, hospice care, and educational support, Krishna recognized this wasn't apathy but a modern predicament: students caught between the intrinsic value of giving and the extrinsic demands of achievement culture.SVC was built to resolve this tension—creating pathways that make service both deeply meaningful and practically accessible. In giving ourselves away through service, we somehow become more complete. Students discover capacities for empathy and leadership while developing the moral imagination essential for democratic citizenship.By removing barriers to volunteering while preserving its transformative potential, we cultivate the habits of heart and mind our troubled times demand. In a world increasingly focused on individual advancement, we stand for the countercultural idea that showing up for others creates the meaning and connection we all truly seek.
